U.S. market overnight trading

The overnight session hours are from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the next day, Sunday to Thursday.

They are the same as those charged during the regular trading hours.

3. How to place an order during the overnight session?

You can trade a stock during the overnight session if you see a small icon indicating overnight trading on its Detailed Quotes page.

(1)Go to the Trade page of the stock, and choose Limit in the Order Type field. Since there is a higher risk in overnight trading, please remember to finish the risk disclosure first.

(2)Choose Day in the Time-in-Force field. Currently, only overnight orders with a Time-in-Force of DAY are supported.

(3)Now you can find Overnight Trading in the Session field. Select it and you can place an order during the overnight session.

Orders placed during the overnight session can be found in the order list and are marked with “Overnight”.

Currently, you can place limit and day orders only. Please note that open overnight orders expire automatically at the end of the overnight session. Learn more.

5. Can I sell short during the overnight session?

No. It is currently not supported.

6. Can I place overnight orders before the overnight session?

No. Overnight orders must be placed during the overnight session.

7. Which trading day does the overnight session belong to?

The overnight session belongs to the next trading day (T+1).

For example, the overnight session on Monday night (Eastern Time) falls into the trading day of Tuesday.

8. How are my position value and P/L calculated?

Your P/L can be calculated using the overnight price.

Profit and loss (P&L) is the total profit and loss from the close of the previous trading day to now. P/L can be manually calculated using the following formula:

Today's P&L of Single Position = (Current Market Value – Yesterday's Closing Market Value) + (Current Selling Value – Current Buying Value)

Today's Total P&L of Account = Sum of Today's P&L for All Positions

If you choose to use the overnight price, your Today's P/L will be reset at 8:00 PM ET every day. You can also check your Yesterday‘s P/L. Futu calculates your Yesterday‘s P/L from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM ET.
